Download & Extract
Download our zipped launcher and extract it to a location of your choosings. The launcher can be used by running `launcher.exe` inside the base folder.
The entire game will be downloaded and extracted upon running the launcher. This can take some time depending on your connection and computer specifications.
Launcher: Creating a New Profile
- Click the `+ New` in the top right to create a new profile
- Click the new profile labeled `Profile_#`
- Enter in a Profile Name on the left, this is just for display purposes
- Enter in your account and password details on the right if you'd like the launcher to save your details
- Make any other changes necessary for your preferred gameplay
- Click `Save Changes` at the top

- Click `Extensions` at the top
- Toggle your choice of options on or off
Don't see an addon or plugin you'd like to use? Request it on our Discord! We will do our best to review and add appropriate addons and plugins as quickly as possible. Addons and plugins can be manually added, but we will not support this method.
Launcher: Managing Scripts
- Click `Scripts` at the top
- Make any desired changes to your default.txt here
Addons and plugins toggled from their respective settings are automatically added or removed from this list.
Launcher: Managing Gamepad Settings
- Click the gamepad icon on your profile card
- Click `Enable Gamepad` to enable your gamepad
- Click `Enable XInput` to use Square Enix's settings for mapping (recommended)
- To map out specific buttons, click `Listen` next to the desired setting and click the respective button on your controller
- To use preset and recommended mapping for a specific controller type, click the respective controller preset at the bottom
- Click `Save Gamepad` at the top
This area of the launcher is still undergoing beta testing and does not always work as intended.
Possible Prerequisites
Only download and install the following if your Gaia XI installation does not work as-is.
Enable Direct Play for Windows 8/10
Only attempt the following if your Gaia XI installation does not work as-is.
- Press Windows + R to open Run
- Type 'appwiz.cpl' and press OK
- On the left, click 'Turn Windows features on or off'
- Click the [+] next to 'Legacy Components'
- Check the box beside 'DirectPlay' and press OK
- A computer reboot will likely be necessary to complete this modification
Common Troubleshooting
If your game isn't launching, read through some of the following.
- Make sure your launcher and game are fully up to date.
- Check for `Update Available` in the top right of the launcher and process any necessary updates
- In the event an update is required that is not showing that an update is available:
- Make sure the launcher is fully closed
- Navigate to your GaiaXI installation folder and open the launcher folder
- Run `launcher_updater.exe`; this should take about 5-10 seconds and will run the launcher when finished
- The launcher will check for any game updates upon loading
- Make sure your profile is setup correctly.
- Do not copy a profile ini from another installation, it will not work
- In your profile settings, be sure your profile name has no spaces and is only letters, numbers or underscores
- If your profile card shows that your profile is corrupted, delete it and create a new one
- Are you missing any important files?
- Navigate to your `GaiaXI\` folder and ensure the `ashita-cli.exe` file is present
- Navigate to your `GaiaXI\bootloader\` folder and ensure the `gxiloader.exe` file is present
- Confirm with your antivirus that it is not blocking any files from running, specifically `gxiloader.exe`.
- Consider adding the entire `GaiaXI\` folder to your whitelist
- Force a launcher update.
- Navigate to your `GaiaXI\launcher` folder and delete the file labeled `launcher_version.txt`
- Run the launcher and click `Update Available` in the top right and process the update
- Force a file check.
- Navigate to your `GaiaXI\launcher` folder and delete the file labeled `patch_cache.json`
- Run the launcher and wait for it to finish checking and updating any necessary files
- If you are still having issues, you may need to redownload and/or re-extract the software.
