Agreement to the Terms
By creating an account and/or playing on Gaia XI, you agree to all of the terms and items listed below. If you do not agree to any of the terms listed below, you are not authorized to use any of Gaia XI's services.

Terms of Use for Gaia XI is subject to change at any time and for any reason.
Free to Play
Gaia XI will always be a free-to-play Final Fantasy XI server. Donations are not necessary and will be kindly turned away.
No Griefing
Griefing is determined by the direct intention of causing an issue for the server or other players, whether it be by standard game mechanics, exploitations of any kind or through conversation, direct or indirect with the involved parties. This includes, but is not limited to, using monsters to kill other players, creating unnecessary problems that effect gameplay or creating negative community-driven dramatic experiences.
Players determined to be griefing will be assigned infraction points. Players who reach specific levels of infraction points will be subject to warnings, in-game jail time, suspensions and permanent bans from Gaia XI.
Treat Each Other with Respect
We expect all players to treat each other with kindness and respect. We understand that things happen that may cause frustration, but to take it out on another person will never be acceptable. In most cases, players will be given a verbal warning on the first offense.
No Cheating
Cheating is determined as using a tool or exploit that enhances or alters gameplay to give you an unintended, unfair advantage over another player or the game. This includes, but is not limited to, using programs that alter the location of your player, grants special abilities, items, stats, etc that are otherwise outside the intended methods of the game, or using exploits. Exploits are defined as taking advantage of features in the game that were clearly unintentional. An example of an exploit would be creating multiple characters to send themselves additional gil or items. Bots (software/apps outside the original software) that perform actions on your behalf are not allowed.
Players determined to be cheating will be assigned infraction points. If you have to ask yourself or another person if something might be considered cheating, just assume that it is.
Infractions Points
Infraction points are assigned to players in leiu of suspension for breaking our terms of use when deemed to be a better option, be it for cheating, exploiting or behavior. Players who receive infraction points will not see their day to day gameplay changed. However, when enough infraction points are gained, a suspension will be issued to all related characters. Infraction points expire after 90 days if no other infraction points are accrued since the last infraction. Infractions may be seen on your character profile under My Account; it is not shown if a character does not have any and this information is not made public otherwise.
Maximum 2 Accounts Per Player
Players may have maximum of 2 accounts. Each account is allowed 1 character. Accounts are linked and connected by IP address, MAC address and device names.
Multiple accounts created purely for sharing beginning perks with main accounts is forbidden.
Dual-Boxing Allowed
Players who wish to play separate characters on separate accounts at the same time are permitted to do so. Keep in mind that Gaia XI has many features incorporated to help players diverge from using multiple characters at the same time. Please remember that tools used to automate a character are not allowed and user input is required.
Character & Linkshell Names
Names used for characters, linkshells and anything else that is community facing must be considered moderately appropriate. This includes, but is not limited to: foul language, impersonation of someone or group, innapropriate innuendo, names that may conflict with our server or database, etc. Whether or not your name is deemed appropriate is at the discretion of the Gaia XI team. If your name is found to be inappopriate, it will be changed by a Game Master. If the issue persists, the character and/or account will be suspended and/or deleted.
Items & Treasure
All items, equipment, and treasures obtained within $sitename are considered part of the in-game experience and subject to the normal risks associated with gameplay. While every effort is made to maintain server stability and prevent data loss, items lost due to player error, disconnection, or unexpected server issues are not guaranteed to be restored.
In exceptional cases, a Game Master may review lost items at their discretion; however, very rare or high-value items will not be replaced without sufficient proof of ownership, such as a dated screenshot clearly showing the item in the player's possession. Players are encouraged to take periodic screenshots of their valuable items for verification purposes.
By playing on Gaia XI, you acknowledge and accept that:
* Accidental drops, trades, or item deletions are the responsibility of the player
* Items lost during gameplay due to crashes, lag, or disconnects may not be recoverable
* Restoration decisions are final and made solely at Game Master discretion
This policy ensures fairness and preserves the integrity of the game for all adventurers.
Addons, Plugins & Tools
These are lists of addons, plugins and tools that are either allowed or not allowed on Gaia XI. If you do not see the one you're looking for on either list, please reach out to a Gaia XI team member to inquire whether it's allowed or not, and to get it added to a list. This list can change at any time.
